Excellent motion graphics and video sequences

Some new music videos to get the creative juices flowing. The first two are from the French electronic duo, Justice. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Justice live twice here in Chicago. You can tell right away that their professions prior to becoming rock stars were that of graphic designers:

This next video is a school project:

If Star Wars was filmed two decades earlier and Saul Bass did the opening title sequence, it might look like this…his was a school project. The song is “Machine” by the Buddy Rich Band off the album Big Swing Face (1967)

This last one isn’t an example of motion graphics, but an excellent scene from Donnie Darko. A post on Buzz Anderson’s Sci-fi Hi-fi sums it up perfectly. Head over heels is one of my favorite songs, as it turns out:

This has to be among my top 5 favorite musical sequences in a movie. It’s a wonderful song, it’s spot on for the period, and I really dig how the scene’s fluid, slow-motion pacing matches the song’s leisurely, almost luxurious feel. Oh, and I love the slightly surreal bit with the girls’ dance routine.
